TikTok + Business

Even though there is a chance TikTok will be banned in the United States (*insert eye roll emoji here*), TikTok has now opened up their platform to business’ with their own business manager! TikTok for Business is available in all markets now and is the hub for businesses to manage their advertising on the app with their selected partners there to help with technical support!

As TikTok is quickly growing and taking up both Gen Z and Millenials' precious time, they are gearing up for a full-fledged ad rollout to businesses. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, go ahead and get your TikTok for Business profile setup now so you will have first access to all of the advertising goodies this global brand has to offer.

Instagram Reels

Now that TikTok has proven a model that works and engages users, Instagram is doing what it does best and stealing another idea (just how they stole stories from Snapchat). Currently, Reels is available in Germany, France, and Brazil for initial testing. This new feature will bring more editing power to the app and although not in the US as of today, it is definitely something to keep an eye out for!

Instagram Shopping and Content Creators

Now this one may not help you if you are already a brick and mortar business utilizing Instagram but if you are more of a non-traditional business owner then this one's for you!

Instagram is expanding access to Instagram Shopping to more types of businesses, including content creators, who will now have the opportunity to sell their merch directly on Instagram. With this change come updates to the Commerce Eligibility Requirements. Businesses now must tag products on Instagram from their own websites “so that people have a consistent and trusted shopping experience.” The change went into effect on July 9th, 2020.

The TikTok Algorithm Explained - Well Sort Of

TikTok has finally spoke up about your chance of having your video on someone’s 'For You Page' on the app! For those of you who don’t already know, the FYP, or For You Page is the easiest way to grow your brand and reach an audience who does not already follow you.

Many fear that since they do not have a large following on the app that their content will not be seen resulting in wasted time and resources for their business but, TikTok has now stated publicly that, “while a video is likely to receive more views if posted by an account that has more followers, by virtue of that account having built up a larger follower base, neither follower count nor whether the account has had previous high-performing videos are direct factors in the recommendation system.” This means that you can start an account for your business today and get found very quickly if you are consistent with your content and posting.

Can You Hear Me Now? - Twitter + Audio

Twitter has stayed true to its original format since it first launched many years, I mean we still don’t even have that edit button yet (*inserts eye roll emoji, again*). Instead of giving us the edit button that we have all been demanding, Twitter has decided we needed Audio with our tweets.

Currently, in a slow roll-out, Twitter has introduced this feature to help with the issue that “there’s a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice Tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike,” Twitter said. Voice tweets can be up to 140 seconds long, but if you go over the time limit, a new voice tweet starts automatically in a thread.

As this feature becomes more popular, this will give you a new way to engage your audience on the platform, you could even do a Q&A with them about your business with a more personal touch!
