Exploring Figma (Beta) - Figma's New Collaborative Workspace Feature

Red Shark Digital

Figma has released the beta version of their new feature, FigJam. It is an online whiteboard workspace for teams to collaborate. Try it out right now for free!

After starting a workspace, the tool bar at the bottom gives you a lot of options. Going across the bar you have a marker, shape options, sticky notes, text, connector, library with components, stamps and stickers together, and then an image upload option.

This can all be used to express ideas and collaborate easier. Stamps can be placed on ideas to indicate opinions, and by holding the cursor the stamps will increase in size to add emphasis. The stamps will be anonymous, unless the personal profile stamp is used.

FigJam offers other anonymous options. When using sticky notes, the far right icon on their option bar will toggle between featuring the person’s name or not. If you want to express an idea without showing your name, toggle into anonymous mode.

One of the coolest features is the cursor type option. While working in real time, users can turn on the cursor chat to type exactly where their cursor is placed. This lets comments be quickly made without placing a sticky note and leaving a more permanent mark, and makes the collaboration more fluid.
