Why Instagram Matters for Digital Marketing

Red Shark Digital

With over 500 million active monthly users, the chances of a brand hitting a potential client, customer or new friend are phenomenal when a brand uses Instagram. A brand has the ability to tap into the 95 million photos that are shared every day. Since Facebook bought Instagram back in 2012 for roughly $1 billion, the two social platforms have integrated some of their advertising skills.

Facebook Advertising To Instagram

When a brand looks to create a new advertisement on Facebook, there is automatically an option to click for a seamless integration with Instagram. What’s great about this is that if your Facebook and Instagram account are already linked, you don’t have to do any extra work. The advertisement will automatically pull over for you. The Facebook advertisement set-up will also show you a preview of how the ad will look on Instagram.

AdRoll is Rolling with Instagram

We use Adroll at Red Shark Digital for our own retargeting ads. We use their Facebook integrations and web retargeting because we love their easy-to-use system. They’ve now joined with Facebook to push retargeting ads past Facebook and onto Instagram. Top brands post 4.9 times per week on Instagram and we want to be sure you’re in that crowd.

Shopping In Instagram

In Mid-November, Instagram began testing a shopping experience inside the app. A consumer will be able to “tap to view products” just like you tapped to view people inside a photo. Then once the Instagrammer selects a product, a quick detailed view of the product will open, which can then be taken further to the individual page on the brand’s website. This process is not fully available for all brands, but soon consumers will be able to go from liking a photo, to buying the product within minutes.
