How Podcasts Can Benefit Your Business

Abby Costello

Businesses, small or large, are always working towards generating more traffic to their websites. One trend that is quickly growing in popularity is podcasts, especially since Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and AirPods have come into existence. Many people listen to podcasts about true crimes, books, or motivational speakers as a way to pass the time while working, cleaning the house, relaxing, driving, or working out. There is never a bad time to listen to a podcast. So how can creating a podcast benefit your business?

Express Yourself - Minus The Camera

If you can talk in front of people for hours but hate getting in front of a camera, podcasts are the perfect alternative. While videos are a great way to engage with your customers and give an inside look at your business, even the most outgoing people shy away from speaking into a camera lens. Video marketing is crucial for businesses, but if the quality is low or the person speaking is awkward, it will not be very effective at all. With the use of podcasts, you can speak freely without being concerned with your body language! Many people will feel much better knowing that they aren’t actually being recorded on camera.

Spread The Word

Most podcasts listeners are loyal if they truly enjoy the content you’re putting out there. If so, they will usually subscribe to your series and recommend it to their friends! With loyal listeners spreading the word about your podcast, you will be sure to increase your reach.

Reader or Listener?

There are two types of people when it comes to soaking up information: readers or listeners. Some people work really well when they can see everything on paper and can read it over and over again as many times as they need. Others work better by listening and soaking up the information in real time. Podcasts give you the best of both worlds; “readers” can rewind as many times as they need to have the information repeated.

Audience Connection

Hearing someone’s voice versus reading words on a page can completely change someone’s point of view. Some people may write in a very bland tone, but in person, they have the most energetic personality. Being able to hear the excitement in someone’s voice about their business will keep listeners coming back to your podcast again and again. Customers can get a better feel of your personality, your values, and the passion you feel for your business by listening to you talk about it!

If your business has ever considered creating a podcast, now is the time to do it. Podcasts are getting more and more popular as the days go by, and personally, I love them because I can listen to them while doing mindless activities. It makes me feel productive, even if I’m not doing anything of importance! Post your business’s podcast link on your website and watch your brand awareness grow!
