Want to spice up your black and white images? This glitch effect is an easy way to add different edits to your images in Adobe Photoshop. All you need is a black and white image, Photoshop, and the Rectangular Marquee Tool.
Open a black and white image into Adobe Photoshop and duplicate the layer. We want to make sure we’re always practicing non-destructive editing! Edit the layer style of the duplicate layer and uncheck “R.” Slightly drag the image to the right.
Duplicate that layer and repeat the process, unchecking “G” this time. Slightly drag the image to the left.
Duplicate the entire group and merge the layers in the new copied group.
Over the merged copy layers, use the rectangular marquee tool. Drag out different sized selections of the image (low height, high width works best for the glitch look). Repeat till you like the look!
Add an image with horizontal lines as an “Overlay” layer. After this you’re all done! If you want a vertical glitch look instead, do the same process but drag the layers up/down instead of left/right. At the end, choose an image with vertical stripes for your overlay layer.
