Hey Y’all! My name is Cole Lane and I am from the Wilmington, NC area (Surf City, specifically). I have loved growing up around the coast, and try to get out to the water when I can. I am stoked to have the opportunity to be working with Red Shark Digital, a digital marketing agency in Greenville, NC. I graduated from UNCW with a bachelor’s in Computer Science and a concentration in Digital Arts.

My ‘Unexpected’ Journey

If the heading, does not point it out, I love Lord of The Rings! My journey started quite a bit differently than it did for Bilbo (or Frodo, depending), and no wizards were involved either (bummer). Through most of my public schooling, I had full intent to graduate from NCSU and be an architect. However, a class in HTML in high school changed all of that. I fell in love with the aspect of technology and coding. From that point, I switched my intent to become a programmer. I graduated with a degree in computer science and wound up in the IT sector for the first years of my professional career.

From working in both the private and public sector, I came to value the importance and opportunity to help others within the work that I do. So I am always ready to help someone out if I can! From working in IT, I had the opportunity to go back into the programming world as a developer for a software company based in Ohio. I really enjoyed my time there working on a mobile application, and made the realization that this work was more fulfilling to me than IT had been.

I have also worked on some private mobile applications and websites using mostly Javascript frameworks (a programming language). I value the opportunity to continue to learn and look forward to what is to come.

My Kind of Adventures

• Soccer: my favorite sport. I have played as a full-back (outside defender) for almost all of my playing career.
• Water: I love being out on and near the water. My preferred body of water has been the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) where I have enjoyed boating, fishing, tubing, and swimming with dolphins. But I enjoy a good stream or river as well!
• Outdoors: From an early age through my time as a Boy Scout, I have loved the outdoors and what there is to experience. My favorite outdoor adventure so far has been sailboating in the Bahamas.
• Games: Love board games and video games! I don’t have as much time now, but I hope to share the love of games with my son once he is old enough.

Not My Liking

• The cold: I do NOT like cold weather. This boy was built for the heat.
• A bad user experience: any interaction should be easy to follow and look clean. No need to overcomplicate things.
• Mayo: Nope. Can’t do it.

In Summary

I’m excited to join the Red Shark Digital team and help with building out sites! I am eager to start and learn as much as I can in the digital marketing Greenville, NC, process. Web development is certainly a passion and I cannot wait to jump in and help bring to life new ideas!
