Q: Briefly share your experience as a woman in marketing.

A: “Being a woman in marketing has absolutely helped me grow in ways I never thought possible. My role as a project manager has fostered growth in time management, organization, and my overall confidence. I was always content with blending in with the crowd, but being a woman in marketing has taught me how to be a leader.”

Q: Where do you see opportunities for women to grow within our field?

A: “There are tons of opportunities! I believe that if you work hard, it won’t go unnoticed.”

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the professional world?

A: “Be confident. When you doubt yourself, it shows! Do your research, take notes, expand your knowledge, and show up each day with your head held high.”

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: “Don’t underestimate yourself! You can apply for that position, you can make that phone call, you can lead that meeting. I was extremely shy growing up and never would have guessed that I would be where I am today. I would love to see younger me with more confidence in herself!”

Q: How do you see women in our field supporting other women?

A: “I have seen it many times firsthand at Red Shark Digital! We applaud each other, compliment each other, check in on one another, and educate each other. The women around me are constant sources of support, and it truly makes each day better to know that such a great group of women are in my corner.”

Q: What is an impact you would like to make on the digital marketing industry?

A: “I would love to be an example for women who feel like they don’t have what it takes. I always thought I was too quiet and shy, but I truly began to grow when I saw that leadership believed in me as I went from an intern to full-time strategist to project manager.”

Q: What is your favorite part about being a woman?

A: “My favorite part about being a woman is that I feel like we can do it all! Women are strong, courageous, powerful, and beautiful!”

Alaina Corsini: Marketing Director

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the professional world?

A: “Go for the gold and believe in yourself. It sounds so cliche but setting goals in your career and personal life are essential. Then push yourself to achieve them. No one is more capable of achieving your dreams than you are.”

Taylor O’Connell: Content Manager

Q: Briefly share your experience as a woman in marketing.

A: “As a young woman in marketing, I have experienced drawbacks from seeming inexperienced in the industry. However, when that barrier is broken I am empowered and supported by other women around me to push boundaries, explore new ideas, and to always strive for excellence.“

Q: Where do you see opportunities for women to grow within our field?

A: “I see ample opportunities for women who are strong-willed, have a diligent mind, and the courage to take control of their future in every sector of the marketing industry. From C-Suite, directors, and managers, to copywriters, designers, and developers.”

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the professional world?

A: “The most important lesson I have learned but still sometimes have a hard time with is to LISTEN.”

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: “There isn’t anyone who will fight harder for you than you. Be your own cheerleader, spokesperson, and biggest critic. Oh, and to listen more.”

Q: How do you see women in our field supporting other women?

A: “I see this every day with my coworkers at Red Shark Digital. We help each other, we give advice, we critique, and we congratulate when the job is done! I don’t think I would be where I am today without the women in my office!”

Q: What is an impact you would like to make on the digital marketing industry?

A: “If one of my pieces of content that I have created has helped someone in someway, then I’m happy. That’s really what I do this for, I’m big on having information be understandable and accessible.”

Q: What is your favorite part about being a woman?

A: “That I can be 5’2" and still be thought of as a bad-ass.. and the pretty handwriting.”

Lauren Boyd: Senior Account Strategist

Q: Briefly share your experience as a woman in marketing.

A: “Throughout my 9 years in the marketing field, I have worn many hats for several different companies throughout NC. I can honestly say that the only time I ever felt “singled-out” was when I was pregnant - my male boss insisted that I not lift ANYTHING, whether it was heavy or not, because I had plenty of male coworkers that would be happy to help me. Instead of making me feel less-than, I recognized that he was looking out for my best interest, which I was very appreciative of!”

Q: Where do you see opportunities for women to grow within our field?

A: “More flexibility in work schedules. Starting a family is hard enough, so having the flexibility to work from home or after normal business hours should be encouraged if that is what works for your schedule!”

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the professional world?

A: “I have learned to give more credit to full time working moms! I saw a meme the other day that said it perfectly: “We expect women to work like they don’t have children, and raise children as if they don’t work.” Being a mom is also a full time job!”

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: “To never settle when it comes to your own happiness in the work place! If you are unhappy with your job or place of employment, take the risk of putting yourself out there and finding a better fit for you! Of course, the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere, but you will never know if you don’t entertain the idea!”

Q: How do you see women in our field supporting other women?

A: “I try to support my coworkers in all that they do, whether at work or in their personal lives! Work should be fun and everyone should look forward to going to work everyday because after all, most of us are with each other more than our significant others!”

Q: What is an impact you would like to make on the digital marketing industry?

A: “To make working as a mom, but still being a great mom, the norm! Why can’t we all have both?!”

Q: What is your favorite part about being a woman?

A: “Being able to bring the miracle of life into the world! Without us women, this wouldn’t be possible. We are creators of the next generation!”

Q: What is your experience as a mother in marketing?

A: “As a mom to a precious but very wild 2.5 year old little boy, I am super thankful for the technology that allows me to do my job on the go! At RSD we rely heavily on Google products, so the fact that I can pretty much do my job from my cell phone while constantly being on the go makes being a mom in the marketing field that much easier and convenient!”

Q: Briefly share your experience as a woman in marketing.

A: “As I’m coming to a close on my first year in digital marketing, I have found that I have grown into a version of myself that I love most. I have been nothing but supported from the beginning by a strong team of passionate folks who love what they do. Being a woman in marketing has taught me to go for what you want, take the initiative, and always push the limit to what you think that you can achieve, because you can always achieve more.”

Q: Where do you see opportunities for women to grow within our field?

A: “I see opportunities everywhere I turn as a woman in marketing! Now more than ever, women are taking leading roles and trailblazing beyond what has been taught of us in higher education. I see a bright future for women in my field.”

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the professional world?

A: “Seeing as I’ve only been in the field for just under a year, I recognize that I have years upon years of experience to obtain. However, the most important lesson that I’ve learned thus far is to embrace your autonomy. Channel the drive that you have for your career, because it’s evident in the work that you create!”

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: “Play the sport, take the self-care day, don’t limit your self-worth to what others think of you. Have grace with yourself and know that you are growing into the person that you were born to be!”

Q: How do you see women in our field supporting other women?

A: “I have been blessed to work alongside the most supportive women in our field! While we are small in numbers, we make up for it in grit and determination. We support one another, provide valuable resources, and take the time to grow each other’s knowledge daily. I am so lucky to work alongside such empowering women!”

Q: What is an impact you would like to make on the digital marketing industry?

A: “My goal would be to leave the internet cleaner and more inclusive than I found it. One of my role models, Safiya Noble, has performed industry-leading work showing the soft underbelly of algorithms and the ways in which they have historically oppressed minority groups. Because of her research, I have become more conscious of ways in which I can impact the internet.”

Q: What is your favorite part about being a woman?

A: “I feel that women share a unique experience that connects us all beyond race, religion, core values, and background. We have come such a long way, and together, we can continue to push the boundaries!”
